“Embrace Your Inner Weirdo”

Yes. That’s what my very good friend suggested I should do. For a brief second “ANGER” flashed through my brain, but, then came the “aha moment”.

Yep! I am that weirdo and I’m OK! What a great blog idea, flashed next. So, here goes……

Some days find me mostly content. Often, though, my anxiety ridden, ADHD-OCD self pokes through giving rise to thoughts like, “I’m bored”, “not smart”, “why are these dishes still on the table”. Ever since COVID-19 these seem to be more frequent, causing pacing from room to room, washing of dishes, polishing of silverware (again!) and other such perfectionistic behaviors. So exhausting! Even my son noticed this weirdness:

“Mom, you need to relax!”, he said.
“Just HOW does one do that?” I answered.

Actually, owning up to your weirdness and then embracing it seems like the first step. OK….Done! Then what?
Second: Leave the mess on the table! (Are you SURE that’s on the list?)
Third: Relax, reflect and maybe meditate to center oneself.

Check back with me in a week or so to see if this strategy works.

In the meantime…..excuse me while I go clean off the table!
